In celebration of Teacher Appreciation Week—we, The Schoolys, together with valued Harlem businesses, are providing the wonderful staff of Teachers Community College School with a special daily treat, “on us”.

Because when teachers are cared for, students thrive. And when students thrive, communities flourish.

Every year, school staff work tirelessly to protect the possibility of our most valuable assets - our youth.

On average, 23% of teachers left their school in the 2022-23 school year, and teacher turnover is reaching new highs across the U.S.

Let’s combat those stats by affirming, honoring, and protecting the protectors, starting with the staff at our local public schools.

The Schoolys is a platform centered around affirming, honoring & protecting the protectors.

On June 25th 2024, the Schoolys surprised 50 unsuspecting school staff (including teachers, teachers’ aids, lunch staff, and bus drivers) at Teachers College Community School (TCCS) with a $150,000 self-care grant: $3,000 for each staff member to spend on self-care and career development.

Our Why

All too often, funds are given to an institution but do not actually reach the people who put their hearts and souls into the work that the institution does every day. The Schoolys are our way of showing the school staff our appreciation for all that they do to protect the possibility of our most valuable assets (our youth).

What’s Next

Over the months and years to come, we’ll turn our attention to the physical space and the curriculum–enhancing their facilities and helping secure relevant, real-world talent to spice up their clubs and courses. We’ll also provide dedicated grant writers to help the school receive continued support in the years to come.
